I struggle with Actects in the midgame

I struggle to handle the lack of cavalary. I tried a drush on hideout into m@a, but then the opponent just starts to make archers in feudal. I could make skirms, but that would delay my castle time too much. So I made Archers myself. But they are easily countered by skirms, against which aztec lack a good counter in feudal imo. My only counter there would be eagles but this option is just to gold intensiv in a 1vs1.

I play them the best, when I just mass trash (very good thanks to their unique techs) with monks in imperial, but in feudal/castle age I cannot push my opponent enough

What would be a preferrd army composition with aztecs in castle age? Anything beside Monks and Siege.
