Scenario issues.

Hey guys, this one is for the editors/ scenario makers

So I'm making a scenario on aoe 2 (first time) and I have an optional part where you run into a monastery and the monks offer you aid, i set a trigger to change their alliance when you initially great them and it KIND of works. The issue is when the trigger activates to change the alliance they ask for tribute to join you and i don't want that. I just want them to Change alliances any tips?
