When you think about it, all 5 civilization types in AOM have matches with those in AOE1

Egyptian- Egyptian, obviously.

Greek- Greek, obviously.

Norse- Mesopotamian, which is curiously mentioned within AOM's files.

Atlantean- Roman, with some added fantasy and Mesoamerican flavour.

Chinese- Far East Asian (Shang, Yamato and Choson), which was added because of executive meddling and it's blatantly the least polished of the bunch plus it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Hoping we get a 6th playable civilization added in 2022 (AOM's 20th anniversary) in the Definitive Edition, preferably something unique Mesoamerican such as the Mayans or Aztecs.

PS: the Norse/Mesopotamian thing is abit of a stretch, however Mesopotamia is the third pre-Rome ancient civilization in the Mediterranean region alongside Greece and Egypt while Norse mythology is one of the ''big three'' besides Greco-Roman and Egyptian in the western world and pop culture.
