Simple Harmonic Motion: displacement, velocity and acceleration.

I'm reading multiple different variations for displacement, X, equations. Sometimes the equation is: X=A cos 2 PI f t and sometimes X= A sin 2 PI f t. Similarly it appears when plotting these respective measures against time and differentiating the functions it appears sin differentiated becomes cos and vice versa, is that correct?? Anyone who can help would be appreciated
