This is just an anectdote, but in the last few ~1600 HD games ive played I have found a use for (and won with) Longswords against eagles (Incas) and camels (Indians). Granted in each I used them sub-optimally or in favourable conditions, having shown my hand in the former yet no switch to a counter was made, and having such a dramatically misbalanced eco in the latter that it made sense to me. Is it possible that to some extent they are balanced primarily around non-expert play, where countering them is less simple?
