Does the resonance bot render a lot of tactics useless?

So I play against the resonance bot normally (don't really play online) and I've found the fact that it gets free resources means a lot of tactics can't be used.

You can't turtle because the free resources mean the bot keeps coming at you. I just tried a tower rush and think I did it pretty well and the bot got to the castle age quickly and then was throwing knights and rams at me.

I really don't think the bot was getting enough wood to be selling it all. Is the resonance bot actually pretty useless to be learning some tactics against?
