Advise on siege

Hi everyone. I’m new to this Reddit so I hope my question isn’t to irrelevant for it being an extra post.

As a little introduction, I’m not a very pro player in AoE2 and I’m curious about siege. I’ve always liked using trebs with there supreme range and good damage to take down enemy castles or for small ambushes on the enemy base. They are easily defendable and so on. Apart from trebs however I find the other siege weapons more or less useless, especially scorpions, siege towers and rams. So my question is how do you use them properly in PvP scenarios and in what way can you put them to good use? Or should I stick to only trebs and in rare cases bombard canons?
