Aita for picking Aztecs on arena

I’m not great at the game (1050)but I’m really working on getting better. I love watching it and now that I’m out of school I can finally play a lot. I load into a ranked game and get arena. I know it’s common to see a monk and siege rush so, I thought I would give it a go.

I “fast castle” if you can even call it that and get a 18 minute castle time. Not good by any means but, considering I didn’t know an exact build order I was happy. My opponent congratulated me on the time. So I’m now thinking, wow this guy is friendly, hopefully it’s a good game. I place a forward church and workshop and stop my opponents Mayan castle. That’s when the trash talk begins.

He calls me trash, and cheap for using such an “easy” and “no skill strategy”. I tell him it’s a perfectly meta play but, he is firm on his position claiming; I’m trash and never gonna get good for a good 5 minutes.

Am I the asshole for using a monk, siege rush at such a low level(1050)?
