Help a noob deal with tower rushing

I’m Brand new to multiplayer on DE, been ranking up with the huns and franks and having a good time getting the hang of it. Then I got tower rushed on my last game of the night, gotta say it’s the worst way to lose a game. I even saw the tower go down before his villagers got there but he had militia to back up my villagers when they attacked. Since it was an open map the other mass of villagers I had couldn’t make it in time, not to mention I didn’t have all that many yet. I have a pretty good feudal time with huns and was fast castling, but he got me in the dark age. How can I play against this? More importantly how do I take advantage of this player wasting resources on this troll ass tactic? Thanks
