256x tech mod (by Trinh) works in single player, but not in multiplayer [Definitive Edition]

So,

me and some friends want to mess around with the 256x tech mod. It works in singleplayer, but whenever we want to start it in a multiplayer lobby it just crashes for everyone.

How to fix that?
