If you like playing the campaigns...

..check out the huge amount of high quality custom scenarios available out there.

Some of you probably know of this but judging from some comments on u/OrnLu528 YouTube videos (great work man, by the way), some don't know the amount of content awaiting for them on the Mod game screen (which has been made even less accessible with the new UI).

Some of these custom scenarios are quiet original in their mechanics, and play quiet differently from the normal AOE game, others are quiet similar to your typical campaign scenario game.

If you don't know what to choose, you can start by checking out these three creators that do great work :

• Hammister8159 : two campaigns featuring Bohemia and Japan with many original mechanics some of which inspired from grand strategy games (fixed territories that you conquer by defeating a garrison)
• Bassi: multiple (>5?) campaigns focusing on the history of the Eurasian steppe in the aftermath of the Mongol conquest (very in line with the Last Khans Expansion theme). Bassi does also design official campaigns, and his creations have very similar vibes with these: not many new mechanics, just solid build and destroy/defend/control scenarios
• Filthydelphia: the most prolific scenario creator of them all: the majority of his campaigns have only one very long and complexe scenario, with original mechanics and really the feel of you slowly and steadily constructing your state, from humble (nomadic) beginnings to the most powerful empire out there. He also designed official AOE campaigns but I guess he allows his creativity to be less limited in custom fan-made ones. Don't be discouraged if you need to restart many times, because they tend to be difficult. But beating them becomes even more satisfying.

The majority of the scenarios designed by these three creators have been played on video by u/Ornlu528 and u/Kanye_TWest, two great AOE YouTubers who focus on campaigns.
