Anyone else get the "tampering detected" disconnect every so often after a new update?

I noticed this for the first time last year, that when I would be playing (anything, ranked, nonranked, AI, campaign), after about 20 minutes or so, my game would disconnect and I would get a message on my home screen saying "Tampering detected, please restart." And I would, but it would inevitably happen. Then a new patch came out, everything was fine for a while, and then it happened again, etc., etc.

I just updated tonight and tried playing a few games, but this bug is back. I've poured over the AOE2 forums, made sure all my mods were removed (RIP small trees), and even disabled my windows defender, since that seemed to help one time previous.

I know that i can just wait this out until the next update, but if anyone has any solutions to get me back on in the meantime I'd really appreciate it.
