I am creating a league for Treaty players of all skill levels in DE

Hi Everyone,

I am organizing a Treaty league for all skill levels in AOE3 DE. So far I am planning on hosting 2 leagues, a 1v1 league and a 2v2 league. All you need to do is enter is go to the discord server I set up, link below, and give me your AOE3 in game name, your team name for the ladder (keep it PG, no swear words, racism, sexism, homophobia, etc…), your in game rank(if you don’t have one yet well get to that later).

The league itself will have 2 phases.

Phase 1 I will split each league into divisions of 5 based on in game rank. Since everyone plays two games a week each “split” will last two weeks. At the end of the split the top two teams move up, middle team stays, bottom two move down. We will do this a few times just to make sure really good players don’t get stuck at the bottom because they don’t have a rank. That will not be fun for the good players of the bad players.

Phase 2 is a bit aspirational, but the idea is it will start once positions have settled a little bit. Based on the rankings in the league I will split the groups into divisions of 8. At this point you will be playing each team either once or twice, depending on how committed the player base is. At the end of that there will be playoffs for each division. It will be your standard 8 team bracket. Exact details will be sorted out closer to the date but my goal is each series becomes a best of 3 and is played over the course of a week. Again all of Phase 2 may need to be adjusted based on how much interest people have in this.

The league will use essentially the same rules as the ones Jagerchere uses in his tournaments but a bit different since I won’t be able to watch all the games and make sure everyone follows rules. A full rule set will be posted in the discord but the rules that will effect play the most are:

1. The 3 strongest civs will be banned, this may change based on patches but for now the top three are Sweden, France and Portugal.

2. Each team gets 1 ban. Before anyone locks in a pick each team gets one ban. From there everyone will lock in picks at the same time. My suggestion would be to discuss this on discord and have everyone announce their bans at the same time and then do their picks right after. Again I can’t say if people are doing this properly but if you have complaints then let me know. If everyone is complaining about the same player then well go from there. As the saying goes where there is smoke there is fire.

I will follow up with any alleged rule breaking but it would be best if you can provide screen shots/text logs/any evidence to support your claim.

The 1v1 league will be played on Mondays and Wednesdays 9pm EST, 6pm PST. 2v2 will be Tuesday and Thursday at 9pm EST, 6pm PST.

1. Are you worried about having enough players?

a. Extremely. Invite all your friends. Worst case scenario we get a few interested players into a discord and go from there.

1. When does the league start?

a. I am currently aiming for the 18th of January but if sign up is slow we might delay a week.

1. Can I drop out?

a. We hope people don’t but we understand that things change. If you need to we won’t hold it against you but if you rejoin you will probably start lower then you were before.

1. Why are you organizing?

a. I love the game, I love playing people my skill level and I don’t like playing vs OP civs every other game.

1. I don’t have a teammate but want one.

a. There is a channel for that in the discord.

1. Why is it all skill levels? I don’t want to play the top 20 players.

a. Yes as they will be on different nights

1. I am better then my rank shows/I am great in supremacy but have not played treaty much/I don’t play ranked.

a. Prove it to me. If you have a high win rate but low numbers of games played then let me know that with your win percentage. If you are top 100 in supremacy and never play treaty ranked then give me that information. Also you can try and climb quickly before signing up. However, the most accurate information is your in game rank so that will probably get priority. My decisions are final but adjustments will be made.

1. What if I can’t make a game?

a. Things happen that’s fine. That being said the games don’t need to happen at the appointed time. If you’re scheduled to play someone and you can’t make it I hope you reach out to them on discord and try and organize a different time. You essentially have until the end of the “split” to make up the game. However, if you can’t make a game and the other person can’t reschedule then you forfeit that game. This is for fun though so hopefully everyone will be flexible. If you are going to miss a whole whack of games because of a vacation or something let me know in advance and I will just remove you from the league for a few weeks.

1. I am in a league and this one player hasn’t made any games and hasn’t provided any warnings. What now?

a. If a player doesn’t show up and is not providing warnings to their opponents in advance, then they I will talk to them. Worst case scenario they get kicked out and we juggle the leagues around at the end of the split.

1. I am from Europe and I want to play

a. Go for it. The more the merrier. If the time difference is an issue I have set up a channel for other regions to express interest. If there is enough interest and I, or someone else, has the time to organize the league then it will start.

1. Can I scout other players in my league?

a. You can talk to whoever you want and scout that way. You only get one ban though so you should prepare at least 2 civs. Spoiler for playoffs but if we get that far and do a best of 3 series the rules would be 1 ban for the series, and you can’t win with the same civ twice so you would need 3 civs at that point so practice away.

1. I got destroyed by this one guy in my league. Why are they so low?

a. Let me know their team name and if everyone in the league says the same thing then it will be obvious, they are way to good and I will move them up.

1. I want this for supremacy not treaty

a. Again depending on how this goes and how much help I end up getting I will try and organize one for supremacy also
