Click delay when using hotkeys to build/set waypoint

Hi everyone!

I just started playing Aoe2 again recently and am loving it! Anyway, I'm running into a technical issue I'm hoping someone can help me with.

When I use my hotkeys to build a building, e.g. house, there's like a second lag in which my mouse clicks won't register. I've tried resetting all of my settings, changing mouse/keyboard, even reinstalling the game. Nothing works :(

When I select the building by mouse, it'll let me immediately click on the map to build. Something with the hotkeys?

The same behavior occurs when I try to set a waypoint. Has anyone else experienced this?
