Meme Tournament Idea

In the wake of Spirit of the Law's most recent video showcasing a bunch of different deliberately OP civs played by the AI duking it out, I found one of the comments mention a really fun tournament idea:

Someone needs to organize tournament where top players submit several of their custom civs (hidden), and use only those for the entirety of tournament. It would be meme ofc, but it would also be fun to see their ideas and chaos that comes from it.

The really fun part comes from one of the replies to it -

or do the opposite and randomize what pick everyone gets. So players would also have incentive to bring in WORST possible civs to sabotage other players.

Of course this wouldn't really be as much a test of game skill (or would it? Having to adapt on the fly?), but it sure sounds like it'd be a fun tourney to watch. What do you guys think? :)
