First time I noticed how useful the original campaigns are as a teaching tool for hammering the point of pop efficiency home.

My roommate is someone who used to play the game quite often as a child and is now struggling to get back into the fold. I’ve been guiding him through this journey and had him cover the essentials like old res22 vids, SOTL, ZeroEmpires content, and basic Stark build Orders. One thing however that he still struggles with despite reaching 1550 Voobly is that he still has the noob fixation with Trash and siege. He can do a perfectly serviceable fast castle into knights or spam Elite Illegal Warriors in Imp, but when it comes down to the wire, he’s back to spamming halbs and siege as well as hoarding gold. That’s when the AOK campaigns come in. He started playing them for nostalgia sake because “Wallace has come!!!” and the pop limit of 75 actually got him into playing pop efficiently. He is now finally using camels to counter Paladins instead of pikemen and Mangudai for raiding instead of light cav.
