Hello all,
I was wondering if there was any expertise to be found in this community with making data mods work with HD Rise of the Rajas edition. I have a mod that I completed, and want to get that running in the steam workshop, but apparently data mods have a tough time with the Steam Workshop mod loader?
To clarify, I modified the tech tree (which mostly works) but also modified some unique techs (which don't work, old names and descriptions are still there...).
Some specific examples to provide context to my problem are:
Imperial Camels still show up for the Indians, when I moved them to the Saracens.
Elite Genitours still show up as an upgrade in the tech tree, even though I assigned the tech to Gaia, which should effectively remove it from the Berbers, and therefore from everyone else.
I assumed I modified and included the correct files, as with loading Advanced Genie Editor 3, I selected the African Kingdoms files locations when clicking on that option at the top. To quote what AGE3 advised me to use:
Compressed data set = C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD\resources\_common\dat\empires2_x2_p1.dat Language file location = C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD\resources\en\strings\key-value\key-value-strings-utf8.txt Language x1 file location = C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD\resources\en\strings\key-value\key-value-modded-strings-utf8.txt Path for DRS files = C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD\resources\_common\drs
I also properly made the mods folder, with the exact sub-directory as the original files I edited exist in the main directory:
Compressed data set = C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD\mods\my-mod\resources\_common\dat\empires2_x2_p1.dat Language file location = C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD\mods\my-mod\resources\en\strings\key-value\key-value-strings-utf8.txt Language x1 file location = C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD\mods\my-mod\resources\en\strings\key-value\key-value-modded-strings-utf8.txt Path for DRS files = C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD\mods\my-mod\resources\_common\drs
My main question for the community is this: if I still see all the changes I made to the game within the AGE3 editor, then even when I hard-install the game (backing up original files, replacing with modified ones), why don't all those changes come through? What could I possibly be missing?
Thanks in advance, I hope you all could help me figure this out.
