TL;DR: Remove palisades from Aztecs.
Aztecs are one of the too OP civs that almost always gets banned. While the civ is very fun to play, they don't really have weaknesses that can be exploited in land maps. Even though the removal of free loom was a great attempt for balance, atlatl fixed their post imperial weakness and the indirect buff in terms of feudal eagles boosted their already OP monk rush abilities and archer skirmisher push.
As a way to make this civ more playable in 1v1s, I believe removing palisades from Aztecs may work just fine. They already have the strongest drush thanks to their wheelbarrowy villagers, conscripty military buildings and +50 gold, so they won't have much problem keeping the fight far from their eco. As a last resort, they will have houses, outposts, stone walls and gates as well. The only difference right now will be being have to spend stone for quickwalls, which will have an impact on booming, towering and castle dropping strategies. Finally, Aztecs may stop being one of the go to civs for BF, making other civs a little more viable in a popular map.
