Tips on micro managing the economy?

I just bought aoe2 HD. To give a little background I played aoe2 when I was a little kid, I loved it but never played online or anything. When I was a teenager/adolescent i played ALOT of aoe3 and starcraft 2. Both of those games required alot of military micro management but very little economy micro management. I bought aoe2 because it's still really active online but I'm struggling with the economy management as the two games I played the most, aoe3 and starcraft 2 didnt really require (at least not like aoe2). I cant play the new expansions of starcraft 2 because it's just way to fast, wings of liberty was fast but OMG the newest expansion at least doubled the speed of the game, hate it and so disappointed considering I played wings of liberty for hours everyday when I was younger. Aoe3 has a small community although I'll probably buy it anyway. So I want to get better at aoe2. Can anyone recommend really good article and video tutorials to help?
