Stuck at the Wait 15 secs and Press Esc screen for multiplayer

For the HD multiplayer lobby, I can see the list of open games but when selecting one I am stuck at the joining screen that says to wait 15 seconds. Was working a couple days ago, I don't think I've made any changes since.

Things I have tried so far: -Reinstalling the game -Reinstalling steam -Verifying game cache -Disabling firewalls in Windows and router -Attempt to open ports per the steam website (I'm not very tech savvy, not sure if I did this correctly)

Please let me know if any one has found a solution for this.
