I like playing slow. Watching people play so fast kind of takes the joy out of it for me. I've played this game off and on for 20 years now and I really enjoy slowly building an empire and savoring the exploration, defense, and building an offense. Seems more lifelike to me this way, like how actual armies or civilizations would be. Spamming and trying to be as fast as an AI just seems so...empty to me. But everyone has their own style of fun.
