Resource amounts for DE seem to be lacking, or is it just me?

I like to play on Arabia and some of the other non aquatic levels and the big different that I found with HD and DE is the amount of resources on the map. It appears that the amount of wood, gold, and stone is less in DE. I enjoy to play with a treaty and create a mega army to wipe out the AI from time to time, but the amount of resources is more limited and I can easily win just due to the AI running out of resources whereas this wasnt the case in DE. Anyone else noticing this?
