Playing online with a friend, private game only

Hi guys,

I've had AOE3 for a while but I've always played offline. A friend recently bought the game and we'd like to play online against each other. However neither one of us have any home cities for online play.

Is it possible to do a custom game with any deck composition we want? It wouldn't be ranked or whatever, just for fun.
