FPS capped at screen refresh rate, Vsync is off

I am having an unusual problem.

I overclocked my screen to 76hz (from 60) and now my game has a fps cap of 76fps. Vsync was disabled, but still I see don't see the steam ingame fps counter move over 76fps.

Before overclocking the screen, my fps ranged from 80-120 in the early game and dropped later during the larger battles.

Is there anything a solution to this?
