Hey everyone! The Tlaxcala: Conquerors of Meso-America is a project which has been worked on for well over a year and very few know about. The reason you should not have heard about it is it was intended to be part of a community concept North American expansion that Forgotten Empires has rejected. I had kept it private until release as a mod in hopes that they would change their mind however this has not occurred. It was intended to be released in a few months on Voobly.
Recently ChuKonoob and some other civ designer's have come out with an extremely similar civ with the Iroquios. I feel that it is best to clear up any confusion before the project is released. Some people did know about this project but ChuKoNoob and his fellow civ crafters should not and I don't think anyone that would have known of the Tlaxcala project would have leaked this information to them. While the Tlaxcala and Iroqois have an extremely similar tech tree and design as far as I am aware the Tlaxcala have existed long before the Iroquois were drafted. Here is a link to the first private Alpha released to anyone on my Steam profile comments section uploaded June 11 2017. (You must be signed into Steam to view
I didn't want to reveal this project until it was finished but I don't want anyone accusing the Tlaxcala: Conquerors of Meso-America (and the scrapped North American expansion concept) of stealing content from ChuKoNoob or any of the other civ crafters. I also don't want anyone accusing ChuKoNoob or any of the other civ crafters of stealing content from the scrapped North American expansion. As far as I know nothing was stolen; these are both similar concepts of a meso siege civilization.
Finally before I reveal the promotional content for the concept ChuKoNoob's teams Iriquois concept is nearly identical in civ bonuses and technology tree to an early Alpha of the Tlaxcala. All concepts come from the same history and gameplay so similarities will likely occur. The difference between the Iriquois and the Tlaxcala is that the Tlaxcala have had around nearly a year and a half of development and changes. Had ChuKoNoob's team spent more time developing and refining the Iroquois I think they would have arrived to a very similar identity and technology tree.
Now as I present the project keep in mind it is not ready for public viewing but given the circumstances I feel it is best to announce it now.
The Tlaxcala: Conquerors of Meso-America
Command the Tlaxcala tribe and relive over half a millennium of conquest. Forge the longest Native American European alliance to ever exist, topple the mighty Aztec and Mayan empire’s, explore North America and command the strongest and most influential tribe Meso America has ever seen! The Tlaxcalan unique unit is the Otami Archer a slow, powerful, expensive, heavily armored archer armed with a deadly poison blowgun.
History Section
The Tlaxcala were a tribe that consisted of earlier migrants that came from the north and settled in the Cholula region notably overthrowing the local Chichimeca. Their political structure was ruled by a confederation of four houses. Despite their earlier success against the Chichimeca the Tlaxcala would wage war with the Aztec for years. The Tlaxcala were notable in that they were the only tribe who were never assimilated into the Aztec empire, instead participating in the Flower Wars to facilitate sacrifices. The Tlaxcala frequently lost and were poor compared to the Aztec lacking Cotton and Salt but most notably gold.
The Tlaxcala briefly engaged in military conflict with the Spanish however Xicongatl the elder, the strongest leader of the four houses and seen as their king, was impressed by Cortes leadership and adoption of Tlaxcalan tactics and invited the Spanish to his tribe. Seeing the potential for a valuable alliance for both parties the Spanish and Tlaxcala forged an alliance which lasted over 300 years and became one of the longest lasting Native-American European alliances to exist. Due to this alliance the Tlaxcala aided the Spanish in establishing New Spain by destroying enemy tribes, most notably the Aztec empire.
Because of the Tlaxcala’s alliance to Spain they were spared of the looting and poor treatment of the natives who resisted the Spanish. The Tlaxcala and its citizens enjoyed special privileges compared to the other natives they were exempt from taxes, were allowed to possess firearm, were allowed to own land, and lived in nicer dwellings than other conquered tribes. The Tlaxcala were viewed as a superior native by the Spanish who believed it was their God given right to claim the New World and its gold. The Tlaxcala largely converted to Christianity and aided the Spanish; a stark contrast from other tribes who resisted and were seen as directly defying God. The Tlaxcala tribe ended in 1821 when Spain recognized Mexico’s independence and the people of Tlaxcala were assimilated into Mexico.

The Conquerors of Meso-America campaign
Xicongatl the elder, an influential leader of one of the four houses and regarded by some as the King of Tlaxcala, has ambitions to expand his tribe and establish the Tlaxcala as an empire of the America's. His ambitions conflict with the growing Aztec triple alliance and their ever growing need for human sacrifices. The Spanish arrival adds even more problems to an already tense political situation causing further internal power struggles in nearly every tribe. Will Xicongatl overcome it all and become the emperor of the America's he seeks to be or will the Tlaxcala become just another sacrifice on the altar of Quetzacoatl?
The campaign is intended to be a 6 part adventure similar to the Age of Conquerors campaigns.
*1 The Founding of an Empire
*2 Flower Wars
*3 Cholula massacre
*4 The Siege of Tenochticlan
*5 Further Expansion
*6 The Conquerors of Meso-America
Other stuff
There is some other content of the cut North American expansion that I don't intend to release unless necessary. The only things of interest would be a new infantry unit line available to the North American/"Barbarian" Meso-civs which have an early draft (Chichimeka and Pueblo) but were cut early on in development.
Once again The Tlaxcala project and Iroquois are similar concepts of a Meso siege civ but were both developed by separate parties that did not communicate with each other until today. Any similarties are due to the fact both concepts draw from the same resources (history and the game's tech tree) and as far as I am aware no content was stole by either parties for the development of their project. Once again Here is a link to the first private Alpha released to anyone on my Steam profile uploaded June 11 2017. (You must be signed into Steam to view) Until today ChuKoNoob and his team did not have access to this information unless it was leaked by someone on my friends list, and I highly doubt this happened.
There is also a separate community North American expansion announced sometime ago by a different team. This is not related to the Tlaxcala or the scrapped North American expansion concept that it was part of that Forgotten Empires rejected and I am in no way related to this other community expansions development.
