Modding on AoE2:DE, genie editor broken

So I tried modding DE, noticed there was now a DE setting in the dropdown menu when selecting the dataset to modify, and tried to open it.
It crashed. No big deal I though, i've just made a typo somewhere.
No, the genie editor refuses to open without crashing, and wont let me open the window where you change the filepaths.
I've tried reinstalling it, but issues persist.
I suspect that my machine is storing the incorrect file paths even when the editor is uninstalled.
This is because while I cant open the window to open a file, I can open the window to safe a file and that window has filepaths from a previous download.
I'm not too familiar with windows operating systems, is anyone able to help me do a full uninstall of the editor and all associated data so i can start from scratch?
