Hi all,
I am a pretty low-end AoE2 player, but I work with data and wanted to understand the internal state of AoE2 throughout the duration of the game. As I understand, the score in the game is an imperfect representation of a win percentage - a player with a 2k score lead can still throw a game, but it is unlikely. As a result, I plan to 'improve' the internal scoring mechanism of the game based on an API feed of the internal state of the game.
Having looked around for some open source AoE clones for easily extractable logs (Openage comes to mind) there doesn't appear to be any engine that matches the quality of the original game. Therefore, I was wondering if anyone has had any luck in extracting log data from the original game (think a stream of data representing the playable map, resource counts and technologies at any point in time) or if there is a good reason, of which I am sure there may be many, why this isn't possible.
Thanks!
