Scout rush advice

Outsode of going full scout spam. Any tips on scout rushing? How many do you tend to make. What do you do that makes you say that was a successful rush. Presumably because each scout is so food expensive and will delay your castle time you want to pick of a vil or two. Is it1 vil per scout? Is it worth getting upgrades? Presumably your first scout will give you the info needed to sdecide some of these questions. Please don't answer it depends. Thanks in advance for your wisdom.
