Regarding Extended Edition and LAN play.

A friend and I just tried to play AoM:EE via LAN for the first time tonight, and failed horribly. We could connect without any issues, but there was an enormous amount of latency despite playing via LAN. I have heard the EE is very laggy, but I am unsure whether that is only applicable online, or if it extends to LAN play. Both computers are reasonably modern, and handle single player with no issues.

Simple question,

Is worth putting some time into troubleshooting the EE, or is the latency just unavoidable and I'd be better off switching to AoM Gold for LAN play?
