Input lag on multiplayer

Hi all,

I just got back to AOE2 after many years; i bought the definitive edition on steam, and played for a couple of weeks in single player, and everything worked fine. When i moved to multiplayer, I found that the game has a +1sec input lag. By pressing F11 I see that ping is 40 and FPS is stable at 140, but T is always +1. Is anyone experiencing similar issues? Is there a fix? Could mods play a role in this?
