Transferred the files from one computer to another; now the game is not working very well

So I moved the game from a win 8.1 laptop to a win 10 PC by transferring the aoe2 folder to the win10 computer. However, if I run the game, all texts become question marks. My computer is set to display english and the game seems to not able to display chinese. Also, when I'm controlling a group of soldiers, I can't change their mode to aggressive, defensive, etc, and I cannot change their group formation to square, split, etc. Does the game have any other files outside of the aoe2 folder? Or is something else wrong?
