(Noob) My first 1v1 deathmatch...

I played about 20hrs prior so I can understand the game a little then I decided to try multiplayer. I didn’t read the deathmatch game set up so I didn’t realize the game speed would be fast paced and that we load into the game with a lot of resources. I didnt know wtf to do. The dude starts picking off my villagers with knights within the first couple minutes. He kills about 3 then backs off.

3 minutes later he comes back with like 15-20 knights and approaches my Town Center. I shit myself as I have no army to fend them off so I start building pikemen but it was WAY to late. By the time my first pikemen is built my TC is getting pounded. So I just accept the defeat and resign.

Then I look at the time and it says 6:29. I knew that multiplayer was going to be hard since this is my first time playing AOE but I didnt realize I would get my cheeks clapped this badly.

I know the only way to get better is by just playing the game and understanding strats and orders but any tips would be helpful.
