Since there were some recent posts on Opri box vs Dog boxes, and as I was playing India exclusive recently, I thought why no one ever mentioned that Mother of all cav boxes (so I thought, but realized that it's in fact an orphan since its useless to box them in this way) I did a post on the Samurai box in the past to demonstrate its effectiveness. https://www.reddit.com/r/aoe3/comments/fbowwf/samurai_box_cavalry_combo/ I compared it with the dog box or an opri box for which there are counters. But a samurai box with a support army like I showed here https://youtu.be/hY8fBhWs8vk can level up enemy infrastructure anywhere on the map in mere seconds. A support army is only possible to Japan without disturbing their eco or 75 villagers to provide for pop space. A dog box is a one time thing and an opri box even though can be done several times in a game, cannot leave room for a supporting army after having dedicated 99 pop space to villagers either. So, what about a box with the highest HP unit in the game the Mahout Lancer. It's 7 pop a unit (6 pop after card) will let you train only 16 mahout lancers after leaving 103 pop space for vills. If you want to increase the stats of Mahout lancers, you need to have the Mansabdar mahout which will have less attack than the units it surrounds but will occupy the twice pop space. How about including war elephants from Sufi mosque? But only 6 war elephants can be trained from a Sufi site. Which map will have reliable number of Sufi sites for a decent mass? Only Indo-china in a 8 player game. Here's my box https://imgur.com/a/Fiqoe7O with 10 Mahouts, 1 Masabdar Mahout, 8 War elephants (Home city card), 30 war elephants (trained from 5 sufi sites) and a monk. And a supporting army, 36 conquistador from 3 Jesuit Mission. 18 Urimi from home city. I entered the enemy land with the intent of leveling them up but resigned 12 minutes later against 7 easy AI opponents, none of them are age 4, utterly disappointed owing never to do it again. Yes I won all the fights, yes the supporting army did very well, yes I was able to take down enemy towns but there's no effectiveness in the box. If all the cav boxes perform this poorly I can confidently say no one will ever attempt to box them again. The fix is to change the seige animation of cavalry to what the war elephants do so that only a few units in the box seige while the rest of them stand still unable to do anything. Devs for AOE3 DE, here's your fix, go implement it. Video link: https://youtu.be/MLUjNjUV7ik [link] [comments] |
