A decent group of them can down a hussar in one volley, in hand to hand they absolutely shred and at range they don't even trade too badly with other infantry. On top of this they are very cheap to produce. I have been using only Ethiopia since the DLC was released and by my reckoning they are a very strong unit at LEAST.
