Fp issues in AoE II HD (2013)?

I played multiplayer on voobly for a year but now the fp issue is stuck with me and i cant get rid of it, i have a shared global ip and all that stuff so port forwarding doesn't work. I want to know if i buy the 2013 hd edition on steam, will i still have issue connecting to other players because it has p2p connection system? Also does it still have decent number of players in multiplayer?
