Campaign heroes like Age of Mythology

Are there any mods that the community knows about that make the campaign heroes in AoE2DE behave like the Age of Mythology hero units on death? Like, their death is not permanent, their body lies on the ground and they come back once you gain control of the general area.

My reason for asking is because the heroes on the campaigns feel so useless. What's the point of using them if their death means game over. You either micro them to death in order to save them, but you're not microing the army which make the whole deal useless. I've been searching and nothing of the sort has been done, which leads me to believe either there is no interest since I don't know many people who plays the game for the Campaign Mode, or there is something in the code which prevents such modification.
