Language in in-game chat

This has been a thing all the way back since msn zone.com: I am in a game or a lobby, and players just start writing in their native language, as if it would be natural for everyone in the world to undestand. Why is it like this? In most cases it is Spanish or spanish-looking words.

I mean, it is perfectly ok not to know English or not to understand English, but when your opening sentence to explain why you take a pause is in Spanish, do you really expect the opponent to automatically understand? I find it borderline rude to just take it for granted that your opponent speaks youe language.

I also often answer «English, please», but with no response.
