Recovering MP game

Hello everyone! Me and my friends were having a nice mp game on aoe2HD when one of my friend's laptop crashed. We saved and quit to restore the game and let him join again. However, there is no trace of the MP file and all we gave is a recorded game. Any way to restore the game from there ? I tried loading the recorded game but it only works in single player.
